I’ve always been drawn to the quiet language of animals. — the way a single look can reveal an entire personality.

Hi, I’m Lei le Grand, an artist based in Sliedrecht, the Netherlands. I create custom pet/animal portraits in watercolor with my unique style. I paint colorful, expressive yet lifelike watercolor portraits that capture the emotion and personality of your pet - especially in their eyes. Some portraits capture what a pet looks like, I capture who they really are. My artworks build an emotional connection between you and your pet. It’s not only about how they look, but more importantly how they make you feel and remember. The sparkle in their eyes, the softness of their fur, the muddy paws at the door, the early morning walks, the quiet companionship and unconditional love.

At home I share my life with two Maine Coon mix cats and a Doberman. The Maine Coons, with their expressive faces and totally different personalities, constantly inspire me to capture how unique each animal truly is. My Doberman girl Chloé— confident, energetic, intelligent, determined, and deeply loyal — actually reminds me of myself and my own strength every single day. These daily observations shape the way I paint. I pay close attention to posture, expression, and the subtle details that make each animal unmistakably themselves.

While pet portraits are at the heart of what I do, I’m equally inspired by the beauty and character of wildlife. Painting wild animals continually sharpens my understanding of expression, anatomy, and spirit, and that knowledge flows into every art piece I create.

Each portrait is painted with care, patience and intension, with deep respect for the bond you share with your animal companion.
